When potential buyers view your home, they want to be able to imagine their own furnishings in the space. They want to be able to visualize their couch against that wall, their dining room table in this room, and their favorite painting in the entryway. It's harder for a buyer to do that if they are distracted by the paint color. While you might love your "spiced plum" kitchen, they can't get past the purple and it might turn them off to your home.
